RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that Council approve an agreement with CMI Contractors, Inc. of Fresno, CA in the amount of $87,110 with a contingency amount not to exceed $5,000 for the design of plans, cost estimates and general construction documents for the replacement of four air handlers at PDHQ and authorize the Public Works Director or his designee to sign and execute the standard contract on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City of Fresno Police Department Headquarters was built in 1960 and the air handlers are original to the building. PDHQ has undergone several reconfigurations to accommodate staff since its original inception which has overburdened the current air handling system. The Consultant Agreement with CMI Contractors, Inc. is for the design of plans and general construction documents to replace the outdated air handlers at PDHQ.

BACKGROUND

The City of Fresno Police Department Headquarters was built in 1960 and currently has four (4) air handling units that have outlived their useful life expectancy and are in need of replacement. The units are currently run by pneumatic controls which need to be replaced with a digital control system.
