RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends City Council:
1. Approve the Second Amendment to the Agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates in the amount of $167,918 for additional design services during construction of the Blackstone/Kings Canyon BRT Project and extend time to complete the services fifteen months from the effective date of this second amendment from January 2017 through March 2018
2. Authorize the Director of Transportation, or designee, to sign all documents on behalf of the City of Fresno

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Staff recommends Council approve the second amendment to the agreement with Kimley-Horn and Associates for continued design services related to the construction of the Blackstone/Kings Canyon BRT corridors. The project is underway with construction completion scheduled for December 2017, with revenue service to begin in April 2018. The amendment would extend the current agreement with Kimley-Horn to provide ongoing design support, responding to requests for information (RFIs), preparing any needed design modifications, supporting systems testing/integration, and finalizing design documentation (as-builts).

BACKGROUND

Fresno Area Express (FAX) was awarded a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Small Starts grant for the development and construction of the Blackstone/Kings Canyon BRT corridor. This project creates an express service that will operate at a frequency of 10-minute headways during peak periods and 15-minute headways during mid-day periods.
