Authorize renewal of Senior Hot Meals Program Site Management Contract with Fresno-Madera Agency on Aging

RECOMMENDATIONS
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached one-year agreement with Fresno-Madera Area Agency on Aging (FMAAA) to operate the Senior Hot Meals (SHM) Program at six sites. The contract resources will go towards funding the day to day operation of SHM Program during FY 18.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This is an annual contract with FMAAA to provide hot meals to Senior Citizens living in Fresno. The City will receive $68,000 for site management and an allotment for congregate meals at six senior sites which include Lafayette Neighborhood Park, Mary Ella Brown Community Center, Mosqueda Community Center, Pinedale Community Center, Senior Citizens Village and Ted C. Wills Community Center. The FMAAA funding is supplemented with participant meal contributions, General Fund and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to provide meals and recreation activities that include ceramics, sewing, gardening, water color painting, exercise programs, and excursions.
This funding enables the City to offer a comprehensive program for senior citizens at six sites throughout Fresno. Based on prior year contracts with FMAAA, the FY 18 budget includes $68,000 for the FMAAA meal program and additional services including ceramics, watercolors, exercise, and water aerobics.
BACKGROUND
