RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council approve a first amendment to the agreement with Willdan Engineering for $3,980, for traffic engineering and civil engineering design services for the new traffic signal at the intersection of Shields Avenue and Weber Avenue, and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to execute the amendment to agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City of Fresno seeks to construct a traffic signal and street improvements at the intersection of Shields and Weber Avenues. The original scope included construction of a traffic signal, and street improvements, including a driveway for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) for access on their property, curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), safety street lights, storm drain modifications, signage, and striping. Coordination with BNSF was necessary in order to design and construct the improvements. Near the completion of the final design, BNSF informed the City of Fresno that it no longer desired to have a driveway for access at this location. The design will need to be revised to remove the driveway, reconfigure the traffic signal, signage, and striping.
