RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends Council adopt a finding of Class 1 Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, and Award a contract to Vellutini Corporation dba Royal Electric Company, in the amount of $380,418.95 for the Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System Upgrade (Project) at Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring System (ALCMS) provides monitoring and remote control of the operation and intensity of the airfield lighting at FAT. Hardware and software elements of the existing system are obsolete and no longer supported by the manufacturer. The Project will upgrade and modernize the ALCMS, ensuring continued safe operation of the entire Airfield Lighting System.

BACKGROUND

The Project is an essential safety related upgrade and will provide an improved user interface and simplify control and monitoring of lighted visual aids on the airfield. The existing ALCMS was installed in 2004 during an airfield electrical vault upgrade project.
