RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends City Council approve Contract Change Order No. 1, in the amount of $119,500, with Landscape Maintenance of America dba California Highway Adoption California Highway Adoption Co for the Highway Litter Control.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On January 16, 2020, City Council approved a contract with Landscape Maintenance of America dba California Highway Adoption Co. for $197,376 to provide monthly highway litter control along California State Routes 41, 99, 168 and 180 throughout City of Fresno (City) limits. The contract change order for $119, 500 will increase litter control from (1) one time per month to (2) two times per month, for a total of (24) twenty-four times per year on Highway 41 and 99. These two highways are experiencing high volumes of litter and would benefit significantly from the extra two cycles per month. Funding is available through the freeway litter control program previously approved by the Council, which includes outside funding from Measure "C" and Caltrans District 6.



BACKGROUND
The City Council appropriated funds for Highway Litter Control on January 16, 2020, to Maintenance of America dba California Highway Adoption Co. In the first month, the Highway Litter Control team picked up 865 bags of litter, equating to approximately 8.65 tons, along California State Routes 41, 99, 168 and 180.
