RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the 15th Amendment to the Annual Appropriation Resolution No. 2020-159 to appropriate $18,454,300 for the Animal Shelter Project in the Public Works Department.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Staff recommends the Council adopt a resolution approving the re-budget of appropriations for the previously approved Animal Shelter project, originally approved by Council as part of the 44th Amendment to the Annual Appropriations Resolution No. 2019-133. The recommended resolution will appropriate $18,454,300 in carryover funding from FY 2020 to the current fiscal budget year and appropriate the FY 2021 funding in order to provide appropriations to cover expenditures for the Animal Shelter project as previously approved by the Council.

BACKGROUND

On May 21, 2020, the Council awarded a construction contract in the amount of $14,500,000 for the construction of the Animal Control Facility, approved the 44th Amendment to the Annual Appropriations Resolution No. 2019-133, and approved an Inter-fund Loan Agreement from the Water Enterprise fund.

ENVIRONMENTAL FINDINGS

By the definition provided in the California Environmental Quality Act Guidelines Section 15378 this item does not qualify as a project as defined by the California Environmental Quality Act.
