RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended Council approve the Nineteenth Amendment to the Salary Resolution No. 2021-176 to increase the maximum of the salary range by ten percent for classifications in Exhibit 2, Unit 2, effective May 26, 2022.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

It is recommended that Council approve the Nineteenth Amendment to the Salary Resolution to increase the maximum of respective salary ranges for classifications in Exhibit 2 to assist the City with retaining and recruiting qualified management and confidential employees and to mitigate compaction with classes in bargaining units that have received scheduled across-the-board wage increases through a successor Memorandum of Understanding. Amending the maximum of Exhibit 2 salary ranges will not result in an across-the-board increase for employees in Unit 2. This amendment applies to all classes in Unit 2, including Charter Officials and their deputies, other staff working in the City Attorney's Office and the City Clerk's Office, and job classes working for elected officials.

BACKGROUND

The salary ranges for all classifications in Exhibit 2 were last updated in the Fiscal Year 2020 Salary Resolution and became effective July 1, 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying revenue uncertainty that began in March of 2020, the salary ranges for classifications in Exhibit 2 were not updated in either the Fiscal Year 2021 or Fiscal Year 2022 Salary Resolutions.
