Approve the First Amendment to Consultant Service Agreement between City of Fresno and Unison Consulting, Inc., to extend the current agreement for the Airport Concession Request for Proposals at Fresno Yosemite International Airport. (Council District 4)

RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council authorize the Director of Aviation to execute the First Amendment to Consultant Service Agreement (Amendment) with Unison Consulting, Inc. (Unison), to continue providing consulting services for the Airport Concession Request for Proposals development at Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT) for an amount not to exceed $100,000.00 for the life of the Agreement.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

FAT began the process to complete a total overhaul of the current concessions program in December 2019. Even during the worldwide pandemic, staff continued to work with the consultant to build a program that is right sized for FAT. Recently, FAT completed six (6) Community Outreach Sessions with hopes to reach local businesses and incorporate local business and flavor into the airport's concession program. The Amendment will enable FAT to complete the Request for Proposal (RFP) and proposed agreement needed. The extended term of the Agreement and additional funds will allow FAT to complete the full RFP and proposed agreement for solicitation this summer.

BACKGROUND

Concessions are important to airports because they contribute to the overall passenger experience; they are an equally important part to an airport's overall revenue stream, as they provide for diversification of an airport's revenues, which supports the airport's financial strength.
