RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that City Council award a consultant services agreement to Sable Computer Inc., dba KIS of Fremont, California, in the amount not to exceed $68,250, to provide a Site Wireless Network Study at the Fresno-Clovis Regional Wastewater Reclamation Facility (Wastewater Facility); and authorize the Director of Public Utilities, or designee, to sign the agreement on behalf of the City of Fresno (City).

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Wastewater Facility encompasses an area over 3,200 acres with systems and personnel that requires wireless network connectivity to meet operational goals. The Wastewater Facility has over 3,000 assets and dozens of personnel that requires wireless network connectivity on a continuous basis. Everything from live data from collection and processing systems, maintenance and repair, safety, security, inventory control, and administrative functions rely on a robust wireless network for service delivery. The Department of Public Utilities is seeking to approve a consultant services agreement to KIS for the Project. The Project will survey the Wastewater Facility and provide a report detailing the number and type of access points, placement, and coverage when deployed.
