RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended the City Council authorize the acceptance for fiscal year 2014 of Homeland Security Grant program funds totaling $110,700 from the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) and adopt the 39th AAR to appropriate funds into the FY 15 budget.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

CalOES awarded funds under the 2014 State Homeland Security Grant Program to the County of Fresno, which includes an allocation subgranted to the City of Fresno Police department in the amount of $110,700. This approved grant project will fund the purchase of equipment to support first responders and terrorism prevention efforts. The grant will fund security electronics and interoperable communications equipment for enhancing preparation, response, and mitigation of resource intensive critical incidents of terrorism or disaster. It is recommended the Council appropriate these funds into the FY 2014 budget. There is no match requirement.
