RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council approve a first contract amendment ("Amendment") in the amount of $18,954 with Provost and Pritchard Engineering Group, Inc. ("Provost and Pritchard"), a Fresno based California corporation, to perform value engineering services for the proposed bus shelters included in the Courthouse Park Transit Shelter Design and Engineering Project and revise corresponding 95 percent Construction Documents.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Transportation/FAX seeks the Amendment to an existing professional design and engineering consulting services contract with Provost and Pritchard for the Courthouse Park Transit Shelter Design and Engineering Project. The project will replace FAX transit shelters, renew aging infrastructure, and update related amenities at three major transfer centers located within the downtown Courthouse Park. The plans and specifications for the project have reached the 95 percent Construction Document milestone. This Amendment will allow Provost and Pritchard to perform value engineering services and modify 95 percent Construction Documents with the goal of reducing the estimated cost of the proposed bus shelters prior to soliciting bids for construction. Provost and Pritchard will utilize cost-saving measures proven to successfully reduce construction costs of the bus shelters from the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
