RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption pursuant to Section 15301(c) of the CEQA guidelines, award a construction contract with Agee Construction Corporation of Clovis, California (Agee) in the amount of $640,585 as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign the construction contract on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Blackstone Avenue pavement from Shields Avenue to Dakota Avenue is in a state of disrepair. The proposed asphalt overlay will correct the existing deteriorated pavement condition and increase the life of the pavement while providing a smooth riding surface for motorists. Upgrading the curb ramps within project limits to current standards is also in the scope of this project.

BACKGROUND

The scope of the project includes grinding existing asphalt, providing an asphalt pavement overlay, reconstructing curb ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, replacement of damaged traffic detector loops and pavement striping.
