RECOMMENDATIONS

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt an addendum to the 2002 Copper River Ranch Environmental Impact Report No. 10126, award a construction contract in the amount of $852,502 to Dawson-Mauldin Construction, Inc., from Selma, California, as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the Copper Avenue Trail Phase 2 and 3 - Cedar Avenue to Chestnut Avenue Project and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign the contract on behalf of the City of Fresno.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The City of Fresno seeks to construct a multipurpose trail along the north side of Copper Avenue from Cedar Avenue to Chestnut Avenue. The scope of work will include construction of an asphalt concrete trail, landscaping, irrigation, trail striping, markings, signage and expressway barrier fencing. The project will extend the existing Copper Avenue Trail by a full mile, providing connectivity between various land uses, an alternative mode of travel and an amenity for the community. The project is locally funded by Copper River Development Fees and Measure "C" Trail funding.
