RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends Council award a cooperative purchase contract to Graybar Electric of St. Louis, Missouri, in the amount of $362,835.60, for security cameras and associated equipment to be installed along the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor and at the Manchester and Courthouse Park Transit Centers.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Department of Transportation (FAX) seeks to improve security and safety along the BRT corridor and at its two major transit centers. In order to complete this goal, FAX requests to purchase 245 high definition security cameras and associated equipment for the transit system. Cameras will be installed along the BRT corridor and at the Manchester and Courthouse Park Transit Centers. These security cameras will integrate with and expand the City's video policing system monitored by both FAX and the Police Department's Real Time Crime Center. These improvements are a part of FAX's efforts to improve service.

BACKGROUND

On February 19, 2018, FAX launched its first BRT service with 52 stations, supporting 10-minute frequencies along the Blackstone and Kings Canyon/Ventura corridors.
