RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a finding of Categorical Exemption per staff determination, pursuant to Section 15301 of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines and award a construction contract with American Paving Company of Fresno, California in the amount of $255,715 as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder for the Bridge Preventive Maintenance Program, Phase 1 project; and authorize the Public Works Director or designee to sign the standardized contract on behalf of the City.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Bridge Preventive Maintenance Program, Phase 1 project will implement preventive maintenance improvements on four bridges within the City of Fresno. The preventive maintenance includes scour mitigation, replacing missing joint seals, fixing damaged asphalt and concrete approach slabs, concrete wingwalls, sidewalks, median islands, and treating the concrete bridge decks with methacrylate crack sealant.

The four bridges are:
* Clovis Avenue Bridge (Br. No. 42C-0032) over Fancher Creek, north of Huntington Blvd.
