Staff recommends that Council reject the two proposals received August 14, 2018, for the Requirements Contract for Operation and Maintenance of Camp Fresno and Camp Fresno Jr. (Camp Fresno) at Dinkey Creek, California - Proposal No. 946.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Department (PARCS) is seeking to reject the two proposals received for the Requirements Contract for Operation and Maintenance of Camp Fresno at Dinkey Creek, California. There is an ongoing dispute with the prior concessionaire that would make it difficult for a new operator to operate effectively for the 2019 season. The PARCS Department will be operating Camp Fresno for the 2019 season.
BACKGROUND
Camp Fresno has been operated by the City of Fresno under a special use permit granted by the Sierra National Forest - U.S. Forest Service since 1957. Camp Fresno is a family-friendly, rustic campground, where families rent cabins from Memorial Day weekend through October and is located along Dinkey Creek, 62 miles east of Fresno. Camp Fresno has 29 one-bedroom cabins and 22 two-bedroom cabins. Camp Fresno Jr. is a group facility that houses up to 90 occupants and is available for organized groups and large families.
