RECOMMENDATION
In conjunction with the Adoption of Fresno Municipal Code Ordinance No. 2018-67, it is recommended that Council adopt the attached Resolution increasing salary appropriations by $8,100 per district for newly elected and re-elected Councilmembers in Districts 1, 3, and 7.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Adoption of Fresno Municipal Code Ordinance No. 2018-67 increased salaries for newly elected and re-elected Councilmembers; however, it did not increase current year appropriations. This Resolution will provide the necessary appropriations to compensate the newly elected and re-elected member districts commensurate with the current year increase of $8,100 per district.
BACKGROUND
Fresno Municipal Code Ordinance No. 2006-100 previously set forth the compensation and salaries for the City of Fresno's elective officers. This ordinance was repealed and replaced with the Adoption of Ordinance No. 2018-67, which set forth new compensation rates for elected officers. The new ordinance stipulates that Councilmember salaries shall not increase or decrease during the elective officer's current term, but rather shall be increased commencing upon a new term of office.
