Staff recommends that City Council approve Contract Change Order No. 04 with Emmett's Excavation Inc., for a total increase in contract amount of $179,372 for the Inyo Street Overlay Project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Staff recommends that Council approve Contract Change Order No. 04 for the Inyo Street Overlay Project. This Change Order allows for the change in scope of work to ensure the existing underlaying old concrete road surfaces, previously unknown, are removed and replaced with new structural sections to ensure proper structural support and a long-term life span of the new surfacing.
City Council approval of Contract Change Order No. 04 will allow for payment to Emmett's Excavation, Inc., to demolish and rebuild Inyo Street to current engineering specifications. The project is funded through a Federal grant from the Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP).
BACKGROUND
On May 14, 2020, a Contract was awarded in the amount of $583,240 to Emmett's Excavation, Inc., for the Inyo Street overlay project between Van Ness and P Streets. The Notice to Proceed was issued with a starting date of September 28, 2020, and completion date of December 2, 2020. There have been three Contract Change Orders executed to date for a total amount of $49,441 and a net change of 8.5% from the original contract price.
